Dr. Chris Lucci
TECHNICAL EXPERT
Dr. Chris Lucci has been hunting and guiding for over 30 years. His hunting interests include waterfowl, upland birds, hogs and deer. He now owns and operates Wild River Ranch, in south Texas. He holds degrees in biology and medicine and he has been a conservationist ever since he started hunting. Owning land has been a lifelong dream, and in addition to making his own ranch a game preserve and management area, he and his neighbors started a regional wildlife co-op. The ranch is enrolled in the Conservation Reserve program, the USFWS Riparian Buffer program, and Chris is a Texas Parks and Wildlife cooperator, under the Managed Lands Division. Part of the ranch also is managed as a Ducks Unlimited Prairie Wetlands Project.
Chris has been instrumental in the development of the 6.8 SPC cartridge, hosting ballisticians and manufacturers, during several important tests at the ranch. He has formulated his own 6.8 SPC loads, including subsonic rounds for suppressed rifles. His affiliations are numerous, and he holds a position on the Barnes Bullets advisory panel. He is an expert in night vision hunting tactics and he uses thermal imaging while outfitting ranch clients. He has also written several articles on AR-15 cartridges and the rifle's adaptation to medium game hunting and night vision applications.
When asked what is his favorite type of hunt, he says stalking up to feral hogs, danger close, using night vision, and thermal devices.
